It's not what you said, it's how you said it.

We are starting to see that Steven is dealing with Jeffrey's sickness by being sarcastic with his parents.  The tone of what you say is often times more important than what you say.  What is it about sarcasm that makes it so enticing to use, and yet so dangerous?

-Sarcasm is a dangerous weapon that most of us have probably used in the recent past.  We know that we do not always like it when people are sarcastic with us, but we still use sarcasm towards others to get their attention or inject humor.  The reason that it is so dangerous, is that it is a sharp weapon with the potential to cut at the fabric of other people's feelings.  As we continue to evolve as empathetic people, we should make a sincere effort to not use sarcasm for negative impact.  If we know that we have been hurt personally by sarcasm, then we should be able to contribute to its diminished role in human interaction.

It is dangerous because if you say something nice but in a bad tone then people are going to think you are rude. So if you say "Hello how are you" then you can say it funny and mean so it would be rude. From exsperience you should not use sarcasm because you could get grounded. All you say is something but it is the way you say it that what mostley matters

Sarcasm is so dangerous to use because many people can take sarcasm the wrong way. Also us children, get mad at our parents when we are in an argument. So we say something that is serious but in a sarcastic tone of voice. After we say the sarcastic thing they take it the wrong way and we get in trouble. If we don't say something in a sarcastic way many people won't get as mad and they we won't get in more trouble for having the tone of voice that we had. That is why I think sarcasm can be dangerous.

Many people use sarcasm to impress others. It is a way to let out your feelings towards somebody else, without being seen or blamed. Sarcasm is a great way to crack a joke, but it is also a way to mock others. For example, if you say sarcasticly "wow you are very smart if you got that answer" or "Hey, you're really funny, the way that you string words together" then you are mocking the way people live their lives.

Sarcasm can be tempting because you may think it will help to get your point across. But, the truth is that it won't. Sarcasm never will really help your cause-that is unless you are in a sarcasm contest. It can be dangerous because sarcasm is a tool that can be used in good or bad ways. Laughs for all or how Mr. B. put it, cutting the fabric of other's feelings.

So this is what I say about sarcasm. Sarcasm is not the worst thing you could do but it is bad. See, sarcasm is not bad (to me) until the person you are being sarcastic to sees the sarcasm. Mostly when I think about sarcasm, I think of sarcasm as sort of a funny insult. Like it could be funny don't get me wrong but, if you say it in a mean way like;
Wow, I LOVE your dress.
The sarcasm turns into an insult and it could really hurt someone (not physically). Thats what I kinda say??

I am usually sarcastic to my sister and I know she doesnt like it. She gets really upset about it and after reading this chapter, I can understand why. Its like turning something nice into something that isnt so nice, and it makes others feel like you are calling them dumb. Its like turning the words, "Stating the obvious?" into a tone and using it against them. That's how sarcasm can affect the poeple around you.

Sarcasim is bad because it can hurt peoples feelings. My dad uses sarcasim a lot and my mom takes it litterally and she feels really sad because she feels not so smart. The tone you use is very hurtful and is worse than using a normal tone. I wish i could take it back and that is how sarcasm has a negative effect on people.

Sarcasm is a dangerous weapon because you can harm feelings and get people mad. Here is an example, one day I really wanted to get this one video game.So I started to use sarcasm on my parents and they did not seem to like it and they got mad. This is how I realized that sarcasm can be dangerous.

Sarcasm seems like a good way to not yell when you are angry with people, but it can be just as offending, or even more. It can be a way to make someone feel dumb when you say something like "No, I'm not angry because you threw me off the swing, I'm glad!". Sarcasm can also be a good way to seem like your staying calm and you are the better person for not being angry, when you really are. It can fool you into thinking you are calm, when it is really insulting them and hurting there feelings. It's also embarissing if other people are around you when you are a victim of sarcasm.

Sarcasm can be used if you wanted it to be funny, or you can use it to be mean. I think that if you use sarcasm harshly, it can be dangerous.
I think this because you can hurt someones feelings, or make them embarrassed. This can make them feel horrible. This is why i think that sarcasm can be very dangerous.

Sarcasm is so enticing to use because you can do so much with it. Like, you can be funny or make a strong point with it, But if you use it in the wrong way, things can go from okay to bad and form bad to worse. Once last year, my teacher made a sarcastic joke and the person they directed it to took it seriously. That didn`t come out to well... (yikes!). Anyway, to finish my point, sarcasm can do more than you think so when useing it, use with CARE.

I like to use sarcasm A LOT. I usally don't use it in a harsh way( i only use it when i am trying/being funny) though because all it does is get me into more trouble. But, it can be very "dangerous" because if someone takes it the wrong way it can really hurt them. For eample you could say "Thats Great!" to a project or something like that if they here your tone of sarcasm it could really hurt someone, they would probobly feel all their hard work has gone to waste...

Sarcasm is both dangerous and enticing. Sometimes we are sarcastic to be funny but if we take it to far, it could really hurt someone. If you are being sarcastic it could come out the wrong way or someone could take it the wrong way. What you say might not be mean, but if they come out mean then you could hurt someone.

I think sarcasm is so enticing to use because you feel like you have power when you have the opportunity to use it. You have the choice to either give positive feedback or negative feedback, -and negative feedback is tempting. It is dangerous because when you use sarcasm you're mocking the person you're using it on. It does not feel good to be mocked because then you feel like you are not important.

sarcasm is dangerous because how you say something really can change someones mind of what they think about you. even though you arent trying to be rude it might come out as a rude comment of how you say it. one time i wanted to ask what time we were leaving for gymnastics and i said it with an attitude which made my mom think i was trying to be fresh. i didnt want it to come out that way i just simply wanted to know what time we were leaving. thats why you have to use sarcasnm very carefully

It is sometimes offensive to use sarcasm because it may hurt someones feelings. For example if you say "wow that was great" sincerely then you can make someone really happy. But if you say "wow that was great" sarcastically then you make someone feel really bad. That is why sarcasm is not always appropriate to use.

When we as humans are sarcastic, we normally don't intend to be mean, it just happens. Normally we want it to be funny. And who doesn't want to be funny? Funny people are often the center of attention. But sarcasm can hurt someone's feelings. It can also be disrespectful to a adult. That is why I think sarcasm is so enticing to use, and yet so dangerous.

It's a dangerous weapon because when using sarcasam people can take it many different ways. It could be a good way, a bad, guilty, upsetting, excited. But its a 50-50 chance that they take your sarcasam the way you meant it. For example a simple use of sarcasam is when someone says , " Nice outfit!" if they don't know you're being sarcastic they would think that you actually like it, if they do know and you are purposley saying that to hurt their feelings they could e extrememly hurt. you never know, it back fire on you or you'll feel bad at some time and it'll bring you down. By using sarcasam to hurt others or using it in a way that isn't good it'll most likely come back and bite you when you're least expecting it. Watch what you say ,and how you say it.

The reason why sarcasm gets you in trouble is because your parents/teachers dont allow that in their path...you know what i mean?. Also the reason why i think us kids use it is because we think it's funny and that we think that people will laugh since its funny.

Sarcasm is so enticing to use because it feels like your in control of everything. Like you are at the top of the world. It is also a tool for bullies and sometimes even jerks. That is the dangers of sarcasm and why is so "enticing".
